As the season of high school open evenings begins, what are peoples opinions on the local Ashton schools?

My lad is in his last year at Byrchall and has found it OK. he has just done 4 of his GCSEs in his fourth year and I think this has had an adverse effect on his grades.

I don't know if they do this at Cansfield or Edmund Arrowsmith's but I think he would hhave done better if they had left it another year.

My cnildren left school some years ago. They attended Cansfield which at that time did not have the best of reputations. However ,over the past 4/5 years, the school has shown big improvements and (if memory serves me correctly)have been getting very good Ofsted reports -something to ask the schools about.
