Re: New Friends

Unfortunately and a long story, he does not go to school in the Ashton area. That is part of the issue.

Thanks, John.

Re: New Friends

I had a similar problem some years ago, John, in that I had care of a young lad at weekends who went to school elsewhere so didn't know any other children locally. What worked for us was enrolling him in the football academy at Ashton Leisure Centre. It's only for an hour on Saturday mornings but hopefully he'll make friends there who would agree to meet up at other times for a kickabout or whatever. I just checked and it's still taking place - contact details here:

You might find other ideas at http://www.netmums.com/bolton-wigan. (Just try your best to ignore the anti-men bias!)

Re: New Friends

PS. A couple more venues close to where you are that may have something to offer: Captains Lane Community Centre and Wigan Seagulls.

Re: New Friends

Ha ha. Thanks Clarkey.

I've actually enrolled him in the football club at Ashton Town. Seems to be doing well at the mo, thanks for the advice though.

Best regards, John.

Re: New Friends

Nice to hear John. Nothing worse than a kid being on their own.
