Karin you must be lucky being a housewife who can shop everyday in Ashton but has have said most people commute out of town and do a weekly shop out of town.If I was to do a daily shop in Ashton without a car then even if I walked into town then caught a bus home with heavy shopping I would have to add £15-£20per week onto my bill for bus fares plus the time element plus the difference in price from the multiples against the local shops.Again this is why people with little time shop online and have goods delivered so no reason to go into town,one vicious circle and the death of the town centre.Tesco are trying to kill town centres off by opening shops on every street corner so to speak so not helping the town centre retailers.
