its funny i recall someone once telling me about a 'lump' near landgate roundabout, apparently called 'Cox's Lump' but they were unablel to tell me the reason.

isnt it something to do with ('scuse the phrase) old slag heaps from the pits/quarry mines?

the road from the area where RedlandCourt now stands up to Maines Brew (& the Brick Bus Shelter that stood there) is on a definate incline,this was, I understand , caused by mining subsidence. Apparently 2 houses Nos 565 567 Bolton Rd had to be demolished because of subsidence late 1940s/ early 1950s. So I think wherever there was subsidence you may find a 'lump' Jeanette
