bryn gates lane

anyone remember what the cottages were named at the start of bryn gates lane near the "jolly jacks". we used to get eggs from there when I was a kid but they were knocked down in the 60's, i remember a stone inscription in the middle of the two cottages but not what it said.

Re: bryn gates lane

A relative of mine says that there were two cottages down near the beginning of the lane called "Bridal Lane Cottages".

The families living there were Bond and Clark.

Does this sound right?

Town: Stubshaw Cross

Re: Re: bryn gates lane

I think the name Bond is correct. It was from Mrs Bond our parents used to get eggs in the '50s, I think it was for some kind of trade since some foods were still on ration eg butter, we would exchange butter etc ration for eggs!
