respect

I am pondering a little problem kids (not my kids this time)playing football.. football hits my car on my drive twice, i ask them to go and play elsewhere 3rd time the ball bounces in my drive and garden. i go out as a youngster was just about to run in my garden yet again when i said no go out of my garden, when the youngsters mum says go and get your ball. i said no u dont come in MY garden his mother 3 times said for her son to get the ball and 3 times i said NO.not until he asks me for his ball or at least ask if its ok to come on my property. little un goes off cryin his mum said she wishes We would F off. infront of a 7 yr old her child and infront of mine. WHERE HAS THE RESPECT GONE FOR PEOPLE AND PROPERTY ?????? IS IT ME BEING TOO OLD FASHIONED?

Re: respect

not in the least. 2 generations now have been raised in an instant gratification world were the only real interaction they have is with machines. tv,video, parents use them as babysitters so they don't have to deal with the children. its too much work. too tired etc. I work in social welfare field and see it every day. I tell them unless you become the parent your child will not respect you. you cannot be the good guy and the bad guy. choose. but you stick to your guns. I did and now those children who knew me then thank me for being the neighbourhood mom who didn't change but made them do. I had a board hanging on my front door that said. to all who enter in, remember that manners cost you nothing but take you far in life.my childrens friends still quote it today some 20 yrs later.
