Glad you appreciate it, Phil. I add or link to snippets of history as I find them, and of course the site itself is a record of events in Ashton since 1999.

Thanks for the info, it is most interesting and I never knew that. Do you remember the church where Sir Thomas Gerard pub is now?

Yes, it was the Congregational Church, which is now in Hilton Street. There is a short history of it at http://dmnw26769.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/acf/cong.htm.
