Re: Residents of Ashton ignored

The council should be looking to REDUCE the amount of traffic in Ashton.

Anyone can see that putting a huge industrial estate in the middle of it can do nothing but INCREASE the amount of traffic, pollution and noise no matter where they put the access road.

Re: Residents of Ashton ignored

Hi To You Both
Agree totaly, re the sewer works, Bryn Road South was flooded, so bigger drains are laid. Good, then what happens, houses are built between Bryn Road South and Bryn Road. Natures "Sponge" is built on.
Expansion of the South Lancs Industrial Estate, more impervious surfaces.
Global warming actualy promises more rain for our area.
Result could well be, these new drains will soon be out of date.
As for listening, yes, the powers that be are going to listen as they promised. What we must realise is, they are not going to take a blind bit of notice, after all they never did promise that!!

Re: Residents of Ashton ignored

The proposed expansion to the South Lancs.
Industrial Estate is of no benefit to the people of Ashton.

It would increase the traffic problem in an already
congested area.

It would create more pollution in an already over
polluted area (no matter where the access road
is placed).

By taking away green fields it would increase the
effects of the extra vehicle emissions.

Units built within yards of peoples houses would
have a detrimental effect on the health of residents
due to noise levels etc..

It would have a major impact on the environment
and would devastate the wildlife in the area.

With 2 million square feet of industrial floor space
already available throughout the borough that's 200 empty units with the new Industrial Park near Poolstock being built and the old casino land being developed for warehousing jsut where is the logic behind this proposal?
