Industrial Estate Extension New major road junction on Wigan Road (A49) Landgate/Rose Hill/Bryn.

This update is to inform residents living in the areas of Landgate, Soughers lane and Rose Hill that the proposed main access for the extension to South Lancs Industrial Estate will join the A49 Wigan Road at Rose Hill (Rag Brew). The developer proposes to construct a major junction between the Golden Ball and the Brooklands Nursery (formally Miss Rose’s infant school) along with a new road over the fields behind the Nursery and the Coop to join Bryn Road at St Peter Church.

As most residents know already the A49, (Wigan Road) struggles with the current levels of traffic that frequently backs up to the Park Hotel waiting for vehicles to turn right into Soughers Lane. Imagine the congestion when traffic will be required to STOP at this new junction to allow traffic onto the A49 as well as coping with traffic turning into Soughers Lane. The position of this new road and its junction will also have a major impact on traffic flow along Soughers Lane as traffic to and from Downall Green areas use it to access the new link road.

The team from Makerfield Against Development (M.A.D.) are holding a public meeting in Landgate Community Centre on the 30th November at 6:30pm to present the facts about this development and answer questions about the effects on the area. If you have friends and neighbours who do not have access to the internet please tell them about the meeting.
