Re: Parking on the Pavements

I totally agree with you Ian.

It is not uncommon to see cars wholly parked on pedestrian pavements and equally rediculous is cars parked half on the pavement and half on DOUBLE YELLOW lines !!
From a financial point of view , surely it is the councils best interest to stop this happening as the pavements are not built to withstand cars and will deteriorate much quicker. Just look at the damage caused in front of the chippy on Gerard St , where some drivers think its ok to drive straight for pedestrians , as if they have the right of way !!
Its only a matter of time before an accident happens because of some fool parking on the half on the pavement outside Barclays bank.
And as Ian mentioned, the pavements either side of Bolton Rd heading to Stubshaw Cross, just look like car-parks these days. If we can see it , why cant the police?
If anyone else agrees then please post a message , maybe we can get something done.

Re: Re: Parking on the Pavements

Hi . When you state FOOLs parking on the Pavement outsideBarclays do you include the carpetshop owner & carpet fitters employed by Select Carpets (by TOM & Gerrys ) they consistantly park on the double yellows outside the shop causing an obstuction by bloking the nearside lane from the flow of traffic thru the town. (Or is he a pillar of Ashton Society so shut your eyes )

Re: Re: Re: Parking on the Pavements

The truck which parks on Bolton Road across from Thompson Street is owned by the guy in the first house on Thompson Street (on the left as you drive in).

He has now taken to parking it outside his house when the trailer isnt on.

Only the other week he drove over a telecom cover on the pavement and smashed it to pieces. As soon as it was replaced, he was back again.

Denies any knowledge but continues - phone the Police and they are too busy.

So, he just gets away with it!

Re: Re: Re: Re: Parking on the Pavements : Across from Thompson st

Yes, the guy who parks his lorry there is completely out of order.
He parks FULLY on the pavement with only the narrowest of spaces to get by. Who could not see that this is dangerous, rude, damaging to the pavment and materials under it and completely against the law.

Does he honestly think that no-one minds.
The vans that park just down from it are a nuisance as well and are there every day and night. The pavement is now the official parking spot of the guy with the green rover.
