Resulting from a series of meetings between Ashton ward councillors and officers of WMBC, a number of improvements to the market have been given the go-ahead, and more are planned subject to funding being obtained.

New fencing has already been erected to the rear of the market.

Improved lighting is to be implemented.

The stalls are to be repainted, with stallholders to be consulted over the preferred colour scheme.

Tenders are to be invited for landscaping of the area to the back of the market (behind Gerrard Street), although funding has yet to be identified for the planned improvements.

Ashton ward councillors are conntinuing to hold regular meetings with WMBC officers to progress these improvements further.
