Re: Well done, Dave McKendrick

>I have no problem with you stating your own opinions >as long as they are not pretending to be anything ?>else, even if they are different from my own.

Isn't that generally called 'democracy' and 'free speech' Claire? Glad that CAP are finally coming round to accepting these principles!

Plus, on the point of pretending to be something else, maybe you should have a word with your leader, Mr Franzen, who has done just that on number of occasions.

Nonetheless, at least things are starting to get a bit more civil on here. I wonder if that has anything to do with Mr Franzen's absence?

Re: Well done, Dave McKendrick

Matt

Please don't be the one who reverses the trend to civility by starting personal attacks on people again. It does provoke them to retaliate, and things go from bad to worse. Enough said on that subject.

On a personal note, I have always believed strongly in democracy and free speech. Until motherhood eroded my available time, I was a member of the Libertarian Alliance, and Forest. My personal political philosophy is Objectivism.

Although some members of CAP come from very different political backgrounds from my own, we manage to coexist because we genuinely do not have any party whip, and we tolerate each others' views no matter how much we disagree with them. The only thing that most of us have in common is a love of our local area, and a desire to do what is best for it, to the best of our ability.

Re: Re: Well done, Dave McKendrick

Hi Claire,

I have no wish to erode civility on here, but I must insist that I am not (nor have I ever) launched personal attacks. I am merely pointing out that Peter Franzen is alleged (and the evidence looks conclusive ro me) to have been impersonating people AND launching personal attacks on this forum, and on the 'Balls to Tennis' website. That is all. I just wondered what the CAP had to say about that?

And after all, you did accuse local New Labour supporters of impersonating people (which was proved to be untrue) and describe the moderator of this website as a 'weasel'. You have not yet apologised for such comments, that why I felt the need to raise this matter with you when you scolded others for indulging in vendettas.

No personal attacks, no nastiness, just a wish to set the record straight, and for the CAP to do it too. Maybe then we can all move on to the betterment of our area, which we all love, regardless of political persuasion.

Do you have a comment?

Hi Matthew

Quote "No personal attacks, no nastiness, just a wish to set the record straight, and for the CAP to do it too. Maybe then we can all move on to the betterment of our area, which we all love, regardless of political persuasion."

Is that an oxymoron?

I think we are all guilty and there is no need for "sack cloth and ashes" Please as you have said frequently over the past few days "let's move on."

I think it is fair to say, the last word is usually best unsaid.

regards
Alan
