The Lombardy Poplars of St Thomas's Church

Are there any plans for new trees to be planted?

According to a report in the press...

... the church is hoping to do so. I suppose it depends on whether they can obtain funding/engage volunteers in replanting.

Re: According to a report in the press...

The Church is obliged to come up with a replanting scheme as a condition of felling.

It may prove difficult due to extant graves and the boundary wall. Ashton has lost one of its better land marks but it has opened the vista to the Grade 2 listed Church of the Apostle Saint Thomas.

Anyone interested in buying a copy of the history of St Thomas's, please contact me (I think they are £4.99 each)
