Lest We Forget

Today I drove past the cenotaph in Wigan Road, it look impressive in the summer sun, on radio four was a programme that reminded me today is the sixtieth anniversary of VJ day.

How easy in today’s world to forget the sacrifices made by the servicemen of our town in the far east during the second world war .

To those brave people who suffered horrors unimaginable I offer my humble thanks.

Re: Lest We Forget

Hi Alan.

I would like to echo your sentiments and add to your posting.

It easy for us to carry on with our everyday lives taking for granted what those men and women (in what must have been horrific circumstances) fought so hard for us to have access to in our present lives.

I too offer my humble thanks to those who are still with us and to those who have passed away; either during or after those evil wars.
