Re: Re: Re: Justify this CAP...

Peter,

Sorry, but your words contain so many contradictions that I must quote you again in my post:

"Having visited the website it appears to be merely attacking local Community Action Party Councillors,
the game of tennis and the upgrading of local facilities."

So no-one can criticise the CAP then? And you called New Labour Stalinist! How many attacks on Labour politicians does your website contain? Loads!

Let me get this straight, the CAP can criticise whoever they want (including calling other community activists 'megalomaniacs' (Councillor Claire Dainton in an earlier post on this forum) and referring to Tony Blair as pursuing "illegal wars for the worlds oil and gas reserves" (Councillor Peter Franzen), and calling constituents "pathetic" and "armchair politicians" (Councillor Peter Franzen, also this forum), but no-one is allowed to criticise you? Do me a favour! What exactly are the CAP scared of? Politics?! Activism?! I thought that was what you wanted to bring back to the local area?!

The next quote:

"That, and the anonymous nature of the website has all the hallmarks of a New Labour front."

Change the record Peter! Every time someone disagrees with you, you call it a New Labour front. Maybe you should see someone about your paranoia, or maybe you should just accept that not everyone who disagrees with you is New Labour. Or maybe you should just accept that not everyone will always agree with you. It's called POLITICS Peter. Give it a try sometime.

Final quote:

"If those who genuinley want a skatebord park would care to contact me I will give them my full support to get one in an appropriate location that will neither involve the scrapping of existing recreational facilities nor interfere with the quality of life of local residents."

An absolute lie. There are no plans to scrap the three tennis courts that are already there, just to replace half a tennis court that it is no longer safe or indeed possible to use. Answer this question Peter, why would skaters interfere with the quality of life of local residents? Are you suggesting that young people who skate are more prone to cause disturbance than young people who play tennis? If so, how can you justify such blind prejudice?

Re: Re: Re: Re: Justify this CAP...

Hi Matt

It is clear to me that "the Balls To Tennis" website is nothing more than an attempt by those whinging New Labour cowards and opportunists who won't even put there names to it, to cynically use the young people of Ashton for their own political agenda.

Still nothing new there!

I recall some recent bandwagons that New Labour jumped on and that they still havent deivered:

McCartney's Ashton fire station petition.

McCartney's Golborne railway station petition.

McCartney's Post Office petition.

Can we now expect a Nigel Ash/Ian McCartney skateboard park petition?

Why didn't the young people of Ashton and Bryn get a skateboard park years ago when up to June 2004 Ashton and Bryn still had a majority of New Labour Councillors?

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Justify this CAP...

Hello Peter,

If anything is giving the young people the motivation to get up and attack the CAP, it is the CAP's stupid and frankly prejudicial stance regarding the skate park.

It really does surprise me that you approve of this tactic on the skate park, as despite our disagreements, your posts always seem to suggest that one thing you are not is conservative (and I mean that with a small 'c'). But it seems that's what you and your party are being over this skate park.

Do you really think so little of Ashton's youth that any attempt by them to lobby for their wishes must be a New Labour fix? Do you not think they are capable of thinking and speaking for themselves? You still haven't answered my question about how you can justify the assumption that tennis players are less prone to trouble causing than skaters. Please, tell me, how did you work that one out?

And as for New Labour's other failed petitions, I have no idea about them. Being a socialist myself, I have absolutely no time for New Labour. But there you go again, dodging the issue of YOUR PARTY and YOUR COUNCILLORS' actions, and reverting it to an attack on Labour. You are behaving in exactly the same way as Teflon Tony Blair would.

Peter, thanks for the invitation to call. But why aren't you willing to answer the perfectly reasonable questions I have put to you in public?
