Three Sisters Recreation Area

This is a message from (FOTS) “Friends of Three Sisters Recreation Area” to the folks of Ashton and district who live local to the Three Sisters recreation area and who use and enjoy this great local facility.

The Friends of the Three Sisters is a group of locals who use the Three Sisters on a regular basis and act as a point of contact between the users of this facility and the ranger service. As a group we have assisted the Rangers with a variety of conservation projects which have enhanced the area for current and future users.

The work we do with the rangers is both educational (in terms of wildlife conservation and woodland management) and healthy (in terms of getting out and about, doing a bit walking and manual work).

Due to the increase in the number of local and not so local people who are now using the facility for a variety of reasons, we need addition volunteers who can help with the conservation projects.

The projects are usually done on the third Sunday of every month and take about three hours or less (10:00 a.m 1:00 p.m). We also meet at the Three Sisters Visitor Centre on a regular basis (although this is not essential for anyone who just wants to be a conservation volunteer). You don’t need to be super fit to assist, every little helps.

So, if you or your family and friends are interested in helping with some conservation work on the Three Sisters you can find additional information on our web site at www.friendsof3sisters.org.uk or you can contact us by email info@friendsof3sisters.org.uk., or by replying via this message board.

The next meeting of the Friends group is on the 8th August 2005 at the visitor centre 7:00pm to 8:30pm, all welcome.
