Re: Ashton anyone?

Thoroughly agree Matt. It seems like every time anyone mentions an issue relating to the area, it is side-tracked into national policy. I have been trying to point that out, although I have been sucked into responding to some of the more fear-mongering threads. Mea culpa.

Re: Re: Ashton anyone?

Glad you agree Andy. I can understand how easy it is to get sucked in to arguing with these people - during the election I have to confess I fell for it myself.

But, now that has been definitively decided, I think it's time we all got back to local issues and away from party political point scoring.

Peter, I hope you agree with us too.

Re: Re: Re: Ashton anyone?

So come on what's happening in Ashton? Apart from a few pesky children causing bother in the town centre what else is going on?

Re: Re: Re: Re: Ashton anyone?

Well Said Dave and Matt, I have been saying this for ages. Why is Peter Franzen constantly here when he was not elected and and doesn't come from Ashton. Lets keep this forum for Ashton issues only. Now, what is happening to Princess Road? When will it be sorted. I live in Princess Road, can't get in the road and now have to go via Peter Street to get out. I thought that when roads were closed for roadworks they were done as a priority. Doesn't seem to be the case here. Anyone know when it will be completed?

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Ashton anyone?

Hi Sue,
Are you seriously suggesting that this site is so overflowing and buzzing with burning local issues and input from local pepole that there's no room for outsiders.
Contrary to your statement I am an elected Councillor for the Borough and even if I weren't I would be as entitled as you or anyone else to voice my views.
Lets hope that democracy and freedom of speech continues to triumph over narrow minded parochialism or else we'll all end up needing passports to go to the next town.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Ashton anyone?

Again Peter, do you have an answer to the question about a LOCAL issue? Sue had an enquiry about her concerns with Princess Road maintenance works.

I agree, you are an elected official, and do have as much right as anyone else to come on this forum. But as well as rights you also have responsibilities, like the responsibility of being a councillor, and responding to the concerns of your consituents.

SO CAN YOU PLEASE FOR ONCE JUST ANSWER THE QUESTION ABOUT A LOCAL ISSUE?!?!

Why change a life times habit?

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Ashton anyone?

I would be delighted to deal with Sue's enquiry but would first ask has she raised the matter with her local ward Councillors?

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Ashton anyone?

Hi Sue
Surprise, surprise, actually Paul Tushingham does try, so give him a try.
To Peter Franzen
You see Peter it is not hard to be constructive, please don't constantly knock the opposition, most major parties self destruct anyway.
Regards
Alan

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Ashton anyone?

I don't know Alan. It looked like a Teflon job to me.

Problem = defer to someone else.

I don't know why Peter even bothers posting. He's quite obviously not willing to do anything except pontificate. I can't wait for the next set of local elections: I've never been politically active, but a couple of print-outs from here would certainly open a lot of eyes (and I don't mean multiple emoticons.)

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Ashton anyone?

Hi Everyone,
Don't shout it but in 21 minutes, it will be 5 days since our Leader spoke to us.
Do you think we have upset him?
Alan

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Ashton anyone?

Sorry Alan, I read that as "Labour Leader" at first.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Ashton anyone?

I see the level of debate still hasn't got off the ground so I've not missed anything.
As for upsetting me it would take more than inane comments from a few armchair politicians to do that.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Ashton anyone?

Hi Peter,
What was lacking in substance? Surely you couldn't be refering to my comments about Paul Tushingham being a councillor who tries to serve the people? Or are we being subject to empty rhetoric?
Please Peter stop and think, be constructive or else we will be subject again to six labour councillors in Ashton and Bryn.
Perhaps I should move to Orrell, now who listens to Labour propoganda?
Before you say it, respect does not equal Poodle, If you require an explanation ,just ask.
God bless
Alan

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Ashton anyone?

Alan
I cannot forsee even one Labour Councillor returning to Ashton or Bryn in the forseeable future can you?
Perhaps you should move to Orrel. although I believe that Labour Councillors are an endangered species there also.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Ashton anyone?

Peter, do you have a view on the Aldi/traffic question then?

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Ashton anyone?

Let me help you Peter
It was Labours fault, they ruled Ashton when Aldi plans were passed, We were still awaiting the Messaiah Franzen.
Alan
PS we should really ALL get together sometime, I am sure you are really quite nice , almost as nice as the rest of us "posters"
After all I think we do all really care about Ashton, yeas even you Peter

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Ashton anyone?

Hi Peter,
To answer your questions in order,
yes
Michael will do nicely, he serves and doesn't find the need to insult.
Tell me Peter it took a few labour councillors years to achieve what you have achieve in such a short time. PURE ARROGANCE, I really feel sorry for the CAP councillors who are trying to serve the community.

Keep Smiling Peter
Your P45 will be in the ballot box

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Ashton anyone?

Alan has my vote should he choose to stand.

Town: andy@REMOVETHIS.yatescentral.com

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Ashton anyone?

Alan should stand and put his money where his mouth is instead of just mouthing off at people who have already done so.

Town: peter.franzen@community-action.com

Re: Ashton anyone?

Hi Peter,
Is that an invitation to stand as a CAP candidate, I may take you up, there are, some good CAP councillors.
But I will wait until they get rid of their leader, before deciding.
Or the voters get rid of him first.
Thanks all the same.

Alan

Re: Re: Ashton anyone?

Hi Alan
No, I was not inviting you to stand as a Community Action Party candidate. That would be a matter fo the party to decide following a democratically agreed process. First you would have to put your hand in your pocket and become a member. Then you would have to put your name forward and be interviewed and accepted by a selection committee. If you find that too daunting you could always start your own party or stand for Labour - I hear that they are quite desperate and have even accepted candidates de-selected from other wards or found guilty of downloading pornography from their Council computers.
The point I was making is that it is very easy for people like you, from the comfort of your own armchair, to slag off others who have actually got off their backsides and achieved something without actually doing anything themselves.

Okay Peter, you win I submit to your superior intellect,

I'm totally bored,
