Compton's/ Richard Wilcock

Hi!
Does anyone know if there was an engineering firm in Ashton in the early 1900's? If so, what did they make? My great grandfather Richard Wilcock is said to have worked there around 1915.
Any info. would be great. Thanks

The company was probably Cromptons, lock and hingemaker. A search on Google should show you more information.
