Ashton Heath Conservation

How disappointing to discover that a councilor - Walter Carney has taken steps to halt the excellent work of the Ashton Heath residents group The Heath was a mess, a dumping ground and had the appearence of an untidy piece of scrub land until the residents group became involved, it has already been transformed into what heathland should look like, well it is now more like the heathland you see on TV natural history programmes! so well done all of those involved.
Its a pity our new councilors are too blinkered to back the groups efforts instead they are taking a head in the sand approach just like they did with the town centre improvements ie. the attitude we don't like it so you can't do it, not even considering alternative options. In the case of the Heath there IS NO ALTERNATIVE OPTION it needs to be managed and through the efforts of this group it would seem at very little or no cost to the council tax payer.

I seem to recall the Community Action Party boasting that they wanted to preserve and maintain Ashton's open green spaces, from what I have seen of them so far is very little action all they do is slag groups off political or non political, make false claims attempting to take credit for things they have had nothing to do with ie Christmas street lights!!! basically they seem to be a selfish minority group unfit for public office and they certainly seem to be a party of very little community action

Role on the next local elections!
