Skatepark

Hello,
My names Matthew Andrews I’m 17 and I live in Ashton.
Me and my friends love to go skateboarding but in Ashton we have no place to safely pursue our sport. This is quite sad as there are lots of other good sports facilities in Ashton, but even though there are a lot of skateboarders in Ashton (I can think of around 25-30) the council still have not provided us with at least the most basic area for us to go and ride our skateboards. We don’t want a big or expensive skate park, just a simple skate park where we can meet up and skateboard with friends.
I can understand that people who don’t know much about skateboarding or are not connected in anyway can be very quick to dismiss the idea of a skate park claiming it will be too noisy. I’m quite sure if the skate park was to be made in one of the many parks we have in Ashton, maybe in a quite corner somewhere it will not disturb anybody.
A good example of how a skate park has helped solve the problem of damage done by skateboarding would be in Newton le willows, where skateboarders were riding there skateboards on the local high school playground and climbing the fences which were getting damaged. A skate park was created in the near by park. The police no longer have to be called to the school and no one goes in the school to skateboard as there is a skate park in the town.
So friends of Ashton please help all the skateboarders/ BMX’ers and roller bladders of Ashton and try and get a skate park built. It will be a great success and stop people like me from being forced to skateboard on private property like schools and car parks.

Thanks for reading
Matthew
