what do you think about the prescription heartworm medication from the vet? I am giving this to my lab once a month, but I am really afraid of cancer...I live in south Florida and I understand that heartworms can come with one flea bite...My dogs are not 'outside' dogs and my last dog who passed away after 14 years, had cancer early in her life. Because of this, I never gave her any more heartworm meds....I just had the heartworm blood test every six months and she was fine....between that and no flea/tick stuff, I really feel that was why we got her to go into remission from cancer for 9 years! Now I have another young dog and was told to get him on heartworm, but this worries me every time I give it to him. What do you think ? He is in excellent health otherwise.
