Alpha Windows

I am probably one of the very few people in the world who do not know how to do this, so please enlighten me. I am trying to create an alpha that has middle of the road grey, not black and not white, in it, the purpose is to create a "window", not just open space for the glass. Black gives me a completely see through effect. White, obviously no see through effect. Middle of the road grey (192-192-192) and you get see through but it looks like tinted glass. I know it can be done, I have an example of it, but I can not recreate it. Any help here would greatly be appreciated.

I am working in the MS Train Sim with the latest version of TGATools. I use PSP 8.1 as my editor.

Re: Alpha Windows

Well I haven`t actually done it myself but I would assume that you have to combine the colour of the texture in that area with the alpha to change the tinting effect.
If the texture shows green there andthe alpha 50% then you should get green tinted semi-transparency for example

To get no tinting I expect the texture would need to be white where the window is but if that doesn`t work try black.

It may of course be one of these things that can`t be done using just the texture. The other examples you have seen may have had the transparency applied in the model itself
