I have a 12 hp Wizard outboard with Wizard stand that i am trying to determine the year and value of. I have a pic, but have not figured out how to post it yet. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Is there a model number and serial number on it? It could have been made sometime between 1954 and 1957.
Hi Bryan, the only number I could find was 3392 stamped into a blank metal tag riveted on top of the clamp. Thanks for the help!
Lacking an identification plate means go to plan B
1) air cooled or water cooled
2) carburetor brand and model usually cast into metal
3) magneto is usually identified by Brand and Model stamped into
flywheel or stamped/castinto magneto plate.
4) a clear picture posted here for our sharp eyed experts
Western Auto sold outboard motors under the Wizard brand for many years
from various suppliers. Usually similar or the same as the suppliers
brand with minor cosmetic changes with Wizard identification.
Each supplier used carburetor and magneto brands and models which
pretty well pin down who made the outboard for Western Auto and
often model and year(s)
If yours is an air cooled outboard with number tag on housing it is likely
an ESKA model
