WJ7 Super Ten has KG7 gearcase... a nonshift unit so you have a "pull and go" if I have cross
referenced correctly. Gear shifts came later at
Kiekhaefer than at OMC and Scott Atwater for reasons
best known to ECK. Early Six Cylinder Mercuries were
designed to run in either direction to avoid gear
shift lower units because "the Boss" wanted them that way...customers got what the boss wanted...
