Wizard MLM69048

I just picked up a Wizard model no. MLM69048. Serial no. 64700310. I have seen many Wizard's, but not have seen one like this. Can you give me any info on it? Thanks,

Re: Wizard MLM69048

Yours is a post Kiekhaefer outboard from one of Western Auto's several post 1957 suppliers.Probably looks very much like the supplier's version of same model so you most likely can find maker by looking
at one ot their sites on line. Post a picture
on line to aid pinning down maker, year and possible
parts sources.

Re: Wizard MLM69048

I believe your model actually ends in B and not 8, which would make it a 3.5 HP McCulloch-made Wizard from 1964. If I am not mistaken, it is an air-cooled model, and similar versions were also marketed under the Sears labels.

Re: Wizard MLM69048

Here is a Sears Elgin version of your motor. This, again, is based on the earlier Scott-Atwater design, which McCulloch stuck with in the beginning after buying out Scott-Atwater.

Now, I believe I was mistaken in suggesting these are air-cooled. Upon more thought, I am pretty sure that this model was water-cooled.

Stan-

They are popping up left and right on eBay. Here is one branded as a Scott.
