Anyone know where I can get the wrench to remove the water pump on a wg-7? I tried a variety of ways to remove mine but none worked. I've also checked all the usual websites and ebay, but no luck. I'd be willing to rent one if anyone had one (I'd pay shipping both ways). I'm going to take the lower unit to several marine shops in my area tomorrow, in the hopes that someone might have the correct size tool.
Go to John's Old Mercury site and tell them your troubles. JW will send you a picture of a home made one. The threads are backwards , so turn it clockwise to remove it. The WG-7's are similiar to old KE,KF, and KG-7 motors. steve
Thanks. Once I figured out that it was a left hand thread, I was able to remove it with the tools I had. I just found that other website yesterday. Pretty good stuff.
