I just got a wizard motor. I can't find any identification numbers on it! Is it suppose to be in gear all the time? Can't find any shifter. Seems to run OK, but it's always in gear. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Missing identification tag is not helpful.
Look at carburetor...what make and model?
Is tank on motor or remote?
How many cylinders?
Spark plug brand and type?
Any markings on propeller? Number of blades, brass
or aluminum?
Rewind or rope start?
Older outboards did not have neutral or gear shift.
Some makers had different knobs and locations to
control shifting.
Picture would be helpful in sorting out what
maker and model you have.
