Do you happen to have a picture of one of the screws? Chances are it is a fine thread screw, which Mr. Kiekhaefer was [in]famous for using. My Wizard used a lot of 28 tpi screws, which I was able to find on www.boltdepot.com, if you can't get a used one from someone.
Unfortunately I do not have a picture, you may be on to something with fine thread. One of the mercury faceplate screws does thread in and appears to be fine thread. Anyone have a picture they can share?
