Wizard 7hp

Hi I have a Wizard 7hp boat motor i am guessing it was made sometime in the 70s I was wondering if anyone knew what the ratio is to mix the gas I was thinking 32:1 or 40:1 ???

Re: Wizard 7hp

Western Auto marketed outboards from a number of
suppliers under the Wizard brand over the years.
Even more complication is thrown in because outboard
lube evolved from 30 or 40 weight nondetergent motor
oil to today's standard TWO CYCLE WATER COOLED-3
and more than a few outboarders have evolved to
their own favorite brand of mouse milk.
Some outboard makers went too far and found 100 to 1
mixtures meant warranty work so they cut back to
50 to 1 rates...and bear in mind Mercury and others
offered their own very hi grade two cycle oils that
could safely be used at the recommeded ratios BUT
lesser quality oils (even those that claimed they
met standards) could not.
Find out who made your outboard and when then find
a site that covers that maker and follow that brands
reccomendation for that year....too much oil and you foul spark plugs...too little and you ruin engine.
The expensive quality oil and more frequent spark plug replacement is less expensive alternative.
Look at id plate. Does it say what city motor was
made in? Usually a pretty good clue as to who made
(Zip code is early 60's or later)
