It's the enchantment skill. Once you have it you can left-click (or was it right click?) on a weapon or whatever in your character's equipment display and that opens a thing you can drop charm stones into. I sometimes find charm stones after I kill orcs. Now can anyone solve my "dawn and dusk" problem? (See "Dawn and Dusk" post.) The game was much prettier when it had that pretty evening light as part of the regular day-night cycle.

Think you have to get a certain skill first, then you can put charms in certain items, check your manuel to know which skill it is.
