Hi, I have a question for all those people who have visited the island.

Could you kindly tell me if the Barracks are still standing on the island?

The reason I ask is that my father (James Rogers from England) was in the American Air Force and was stationed to the island in 1961 on an operation supporting the scientists also out there. He was part of the team who built the barracks.

He has many many fond memories of the island and quite a few interesting stories to tell (to anyone who is interested).

Jane, could I ask you a question please. Do you know of any other airmen who were stationed out there around the same time? Have they ever been in touch with you?

One of the stories he told me was the time he found a massive skull (not human you will be glad to hear) and sent it to the university in Hawaii. When he went back to base in Hawaii he asked to see it but was refused because he was not a student there. To this day he does not know what the skull belonged to.
