confucianism

I am studying eastern religions and I have a few questions.

How would you describe the ideas, practices and rituals of Chinese popular religion, Confucianism and Daoism through the perspective of family, society and bureaucracy?

Also, A chinese novelist has discribed the Chinese family as a "prison ward" that denies basic rights to the individual, exploits women, and wastes the energy of the youth. How would you defend Confucian Ideals against these critcism?

If anyone has any ideas, please e-mail me at innerrythm13@aol.com
