Looking for Brew origin in Ghana

My Grandmother was a Brew-Smith. Her mother was of the Fanti royal family and she had one sister. She died recently (December last year) and was born in 1924. My mother was filling me in on some details with regards to the Brews in Ghana. Would love to know the connection. Any help wold be appreciated.

Re: Looking for Brew origin in Ghana

In response to your posting perhaps you are not aware of a book :

Margaret Priestly West African Trade and Coast Society
1969 Oxford University Press

It is basicaly a study of the the Brew family in Africa starting with Richard Brew in Ghana in 1745 and continuing with descendents into the 1960's. Priestly was a sociologist, I believe. The text must have been developed from her doctoral dissertation.

I hope this is useful.
