spey flies

I'm new to the board and new to Spey Casting. I live near the Skykomish and Stillaguamish river systems and have just recently dove into the world of Spey. I am wondering if there are any patterns I should focus on learning/fishing that are particularly suited for Steelhead and/or Salmon in my area. I tie some simple stuff (leaches, spiders, marabou)for my single handers, but want to start to tie some other patterns that are not too complex, and that will help me develop my skills. Anything you guys would care to share would be greatly appreciated! By the way, I bought a 12' T&T 8wt., and will be fishing this rod with whatever Spey flies I tie.

Re: spey flies

Start tying Lady Caroline Spey flies! They work! See some of my Lady Carolines on Stephen Burke's Web Site.

Tightlines!

A group of local fly tiers will begin meeting monthly at the River Run Fly Shop in on SR203 in Carnation, WA. The group is not ffiliated with the shop; Aaron, who owns the shop, has graciously agreed to host us.

The first meeting will be Tuesday, Nov 5 at 6:30PM. If you join us, I can help you with some spey patterns and techniques.
