The Herniator pattern I think you are talking about is one developed by Bill Geise for the Klamath and Trinity Rivers.




This is the pattern:




Body: Peacock Colored Poly Flash (Paxon's Peacock Astro)


Thorax: Peacock Herl


Wing: Peacock Poly Flash, picked apart


Collar: One or Two Turns of Guinea Fowl




That's it. It's a relatively simple pattern to tie if you have the materials. If you send your email, I'll send a picture.
