“Itching ears” refers to E.T.s (eternal tormentors) who love to have their ears scratched by listening to sermons of eternal exclusiveness. All the many exclusive Christian sects have the same “itching ears.”

Nothing gets eternal tormentors sadistically exited as the idea that only the comparatively few people who believe like they do before they die, will avoid suffering forever.
