I am a Marine, currently serving in Iraq, interested in Marine history, literature, or anything having to do with it's part of the Civil War. Hardly anything has been written about the Marine Corps during the period 1861-65, maybe the Corps have always been ashamed of the period when it split and went against itself. I am also a Civil War reenactor. I have always wanted to reenact Civ War Marine Corps, but didn't think any such units existed. I live in Missouri, so it might be pretty hard for me to participate in certain old Corps living history functions, since alot of it takes place on the coastal areas. But I'd still like to try. So what does your assoc. do? Do you have Marine and Navy reenactors, or sponsor similar events around the country? I'm reading a book right now by Brig. Gen Edward Simmons called The United States Marines: A History. Write me back. Lcpl Henderson
Hello Mr. Henderson,
I don't know if you'd be interested, but I am in need of a Marine reenactor around here. I'm located in Wisconsin, though occasionally I do go to events outside the state, in Iowa and Il. I normally do, a naval recuirting center in areas that have some historical bulidings. I usually do a first person POV in most reencatments. I'm hoping that the person with the howister will be able to make it to a few reenactments soon, my group is still really small. If interested please email me: durrk2003@yahoo.com
Did you get the chance to look at the award winning books and series by David Sullivan? They are excellent and contain all of the information you desire.
