Trevor looking at the forecast I would suggest Worthing unfortunately will be a waste of time. When will you make the decision to change venue ?. I would hope sooner rather than later.
Thanks Chris
The final decision on wether we go ahead or not is up to Mike Perfect. Chris Clark has called me several times and believe's we should go ahead. I believe that also. Dogs, flounders, bass, top-ups, and rockling should all be caught if the weather is a little difficult. Is it wrong to call it off just because of a bit of bad weather? Could you recommend an alternative venue in WS if so? The only viable alternative that will fish ok in poor weather I know of is Browndown. It has always produced fish in poor conditions and should fish ok again on Saturday if Mike thinks we should move it. We could fish two zones of 25 on Browndown, one in Stokes Bay and one in Lee on Solent. We could also use the same fishing times 4-9pm although it is a neap tide. I spoke to Dave Ellis at Gosport Tackle and he assures me there is still fish to be caught there.
Well that's the latest, not ideal but I really don't want to call any match off if possible this year. I made that mistake last season when we could have fished a Chesil event at Preston Beach. By cancelling that match it most likely cost JVC the title, which I regret. I also had several angry telephone calls from tackle shop owners who complained of lost bait sales at great expense when the conditions dictated that the match could and should have gone ahead at the reserve venue. They had a point! At this time of year Browndown is a good alternative venue and we have fished it in more than a force 6 recently when it fished very well. If we are forced to change the West Worthing match, we will fish elsewhere that night. So keep me informed, let me know your alternative recommendations and express your concerns to Mike also.
Oh yes, well done on a great start at Weston Shore.
Best regards and many thanks for your continued support.
I agree that Browndown or Stokes Bay would be the best bet.Believe me I`d rather fish West Worthing but when its rolling in and rough the fishing is pretty poor.
