How can I verify that I have a purebreed pom

I have a parti colored Pom. When I brought him home, he was 5 months old. He did not resemble a pom puppy because his coat was flat, and scraggly even after a shampoo and blow dry. Several people have asked me what breed he is and when I say pom they and look at me strangly. I have documentation that states that he is a pom, Is there a way to verify that he really is a pom? I love him no matter what but the pet store should be reprimanded if they are selling mix breed pets as pure breds.

I don't know how to verify if a Pom is a purebred, I would think if it is registered it would have to be a purebred. But have you read about the "puppy uglies" on any of these pomeranian websites. I think he is at the right age. Some of the websites have good pictures of what they look like and they definately look funny.

You should never purchase a puppy from a pet store. There is a ghood chance your "pom" is only a cross .Please go my site on purchasing where i explain more about pet shop purchases.
