A curious wrinkle is that sometimes it's cheaper to buy a ticket for further down the line and then hop off at your stop.

For example, a couple of daze ago (Feb 15) I bought a ticket for the 12:20 Glasgow Queen Street > Mallaig train for £11.10. The train stops before Mallaig at Lochailort. A ticket Glasgow Queen Street > Lochailort on the same train would've cost £24.40... Bizarre.

I recently bought my tickets for Halifax to Mallaig using split ticketing. Cost me £37 and saved £135 off the single ticket price. Beggers belief.

Well I've beat the lot of you: I'm getting from London to Glasgow for £9. Ok, it's on the bus and it's overnight, but still £9 !!!!!!!
