Camping near Torgyle Bridge

I am planning on crossing the River Moriston at Torgyle Bridge en route towards Fort Augustus and was wondering if I might find a camp anywhere near the river? I have previously camped further SE on the Allt Pochaichain but was not impressed with the ground which had been thoroughly disturbed by the power line construction work. On the map it does look as though a camp on the S side of the Moriston might be possible before the ascent into the forest but my memory is elusive on whether there were deterrents such as bulls or private signs.
Has anyone experience of camping in the vicinity of Torgyle Bridge?

Re: Camping near Torgyle Bridge

I have camped on the south bank of the river near the bridge. There is a nice flat pitch there, room for quite a few tents if I remember rightly.

Re: Camping near Torgyle Bridge

In 2015 I camped short of the bridge at NH306141 and it was so exposed, on a very windy night, that I regretted it greatly! It was a nice pitch with good views (if you ignored the pylons) but I should have moved when the wind got up. My stubbornness/laziness led to me having to do some minor repairs to my tent when I pitched near Chalybeate two nights later.

I can't remember the detail but I'm pretty sure down by the river would be better.

Re: Camping near Torgyle Bridge

Hi, last year I crossed the bridge and turned left. After about 100m cut back towards the river and you will find a couple of suitable spots.
