Hi. Does the Camp Site at Carie on Loch Rannoch take Backpackers? Any suggestions on a wild camp about 5Km Further on? After Kinloch Rannoch I will be going North to Loch Errochty, but will not make it that far on that day.

Yes William they do. No hot water, only cold shower and no shop until Kinloch Rannoch.

I've stopped there twice, it was lovely and quiet both times, and there's a good café for breakfast at Kinloch Rannoch as well as the shop.

Kilted warriors discovered in 2018 that the Carie campsite has moved towards Kinloch Rannoch and isn't where it says it is on the map. I was too emotional to note exactly where it was, but walking further down the road should locate it. My emotional issues were resolved by a tea machine in Kinloch Rannoch and various delicacies bought in the shop there and consumed in the warm sunshine just outside.

The vehicle entrance appears to be off the road at roughly NN 626 573, you can find it on Google Maps Street View, it is signposted Kilvrecht- car park, toilets and campsite. There is pedestrian entry, crossing footbridges in the forestry, roughly NN 614 564 and NN 616 569.
