Re: Monadhliath recommendations

Yes that's the one. Where is Temple Pier?

Re: Monadhliath recommendations

Head out of Drum on the A82 road towards Inverness, Temple Pier is almost 2km out of town, at Temple Farm West there is a slope opposite going down to the loch with a green sign declaring Temple Pier :slightly_smiling_face:

Re: Monadhliath recommendations

I've got it, it's marked on the map as an IRB station. Many thanks!

Re: Monadhliath recommendations

No worries :slightly_smiling_face:

Re: Monadhliath recommendations

Here you go Paul - 1:25 map showing the location. Good luck in 2019!

Re: Monadhliath recommendations

OK, Paul, and now an answer to your initial question:
see my 2018 route from Inverfarigaig to Aviemore on this google map for a straightforward route.

And a nice secluded pitch in the middle of the Monadhliath: NH 669 174
The deer don't like you to be there....

Re: Monadhliath recommendations

Bart, many thanks for the ideas. I'm looking at following the River Dulnain from its source to Carrbridge.

Re: Monadhliath recommendations

I think you'll find the Monadhliath to be quite superb!

I think you'll find the Monadhliath to be quite superb!
Although, it is getting harder and harder to find a route avoiding ridiculous hill tracks and windfarms.
Still possible, but for how long?

Re: Monadhliath recommendations

I'm currently reading a book called "Along the Divide" by Chris Townsend on how he walked the watershed of Scotland from south to north. I'm thinking of doing the same for the Monadhliath from west to east.

So, what's it like on the tops, firm or blanket peat bog? How doable would a watershed walk actually be?

Re: Monadhliath recommendations

Paul - do you have an eMail address? If so, I've stuff for you off-board. If not, no harm.
