Re: Geldie Burn (north of Glen Tilt)

Hi Shaun
from Bynak Lodge an alternative go over Buachaille Breige and pick up the track
in Allt Cristie Beag to Inverey

Re: Geldie Burn (north of Glen Tilt)

Thanks Keith

Re: Geldie Burn (north of Glen Tilt)

Hi,

A word of warning here.

If Geldie Burn is in spate, almost sure that both Bynack Burn and Allt an't Seilich will also be in spate. It is even likely that the watershed between the Dee and Tilt systems at NN999828 is filled up with water. Though the path up from Glen Tilt to Bynack Lodge stays usable you will quite likely not even be able to reach the Geldie ford.

So the much advertised escapes to the south bank or over Buachaille Brèige might proof difficult or even impossible.

If a retreat to Glen Tilt is not preferred and crossing Allt an't Seilich proofs impossible your best bet is to camp in the lee of Bynack Lodge ruins and sit it out. In most cases within 20 hrs the whole river system of Geldie Burn, Bynack burn and Allt an't Seilich will be out of spate according to Breamar MRT members I spoke.

Regards

Rolf

Re: Geldie Burn (north of Glen Tilt)

Hi Rolf,

Many thanks for your advice which I'll certainly factor into my planning. Let's hope it's not required.

Cheers

Shaun
