Snow cover during the challenge

We've had a bit more snow down here in the South this weekend, but what's it like up in Scotland at the moment? Has it been a winter bereft of snow or has the snow cover been extensive with great depth in places?

With the challenge just 8 weeks away I need to know whether I might need an ice axe!

Re: Snow cover during the challenge

Hello Paul

The hills still very much have their winter coats on here in Newtonmore with snow down to around 250m. Above 600m it is pretty deep. How much will remain in May depends on how mild a spring we have but if we don't get a prolonged warm patch it is likely that winter gear may be needed for those heading over the hills.
We will give an update at the end of April.
