Re: Isle of Man TT

A late friend and former Challenger, Nev Tandy, retired to the Isle of Man from the Midlands (his widow is Manx) and had hoped to return to the Challenge after his move, probably with me. However he found that both plane and ferry costs rose exorbitanty around the period of the TT and meant his trips to the mainland needed careful planning.

Sadly he never made it back to the Challenge but I'm sure the same care in researching packages and timing will be needed to get best value. Nev was also a biker and at least had the pleasure of seeing the TT roar past his front garden in Union Mills.

Hi Rudy

You can fly from Edinburgh or Glasgow to the Isle of Man but these will be expensive during the TT. A cheaper option is to go there by train and ferry. Try the following website for information on how to get there, but be warned, it'll take you two days to get there from Montrose as it is a difficult (i.e. long) journey by train.

Good luck!

Re: Isle of Man TT

Rudy,

Sorry, I am not a motorcycle enthusiast, but I had a walking holiday on the IOM in May 2016, and tried to avoid the TT.
But even in de weeks before the actual TT date it was already hard to find accommodation. So just some advice to book your trip soon, as I have the impression that even campsites may be full.

Enjoy the IOM, it really is a special place!
