Taxi to Kilchoan

Calling Kilchoan starters!

Three of us (me, Alan Sloman & Mad 'n Bad) will arrive on the sleeper at Fort William at 09:55 on Thursday 10th May. Our intention is to take a cab/mpv to Kilchoan, drop luggage and continue to Ardnamurchan Point to amble back to hotel (so we'll actually start our walk at the westernmost point of the UK).

So, does anyone want to share the cab and cost? Right now it's us three, and the journey cost is around £125 if they can take Corran Ferry or £170 if they have to go long way round. The cab company have vehicles that can take up to eight.

The cab will be booked for around 10:30 to allow for train delays and general faffing about.

Email me to book your seat by next Thursday (9th November) as I intend to let them know on Friday morning.

P.S. Obviously you don't HAVE to go all the way to the point if you'd rather we drop you off in Kilchoan.

Re: Taxi to Kilchoan

Phil,
there was a very acceptable bus service from FW to Kilchoan when I went that way in 2013. Didn't cost me a thing, but that's a Scottish pensioner's perks.

Re: Taxi to Kilchoan

The bus goes through Acharacle as well.

And click here for the full timetable

The fare Fort Bill > Kilchoan is £7.60. Would save the three of you £102.20.

Re: Taxi to Kilchoan

Ta for the supplementary info HMP3.

We are currently up to five for the cab. Any more?

Re: Taxi to Kilchoan

Hi Kirsten,

Thanks for this. You are right about the excellent bus service - that's very useful info for later arrivals at FW.

However, we arrive at FW at 09:55 and the bus doesn't go until 13:50 and takes another three hours. We plan to start our traverse of Scotland from the most westerly mainland point (Point of Ardnamurchan) so we are getting the taxi to there, and then walking back to Kilchoan.

The bus, alas, doesn't go the whole way to the lighthouse (although I suppose we could bribe the driver) but even then we'd lose valuable time for our pre-prandial drinkies. .

Nope, that's a sacrifice too far. TAXI !!!!!!!!!!

Cheers, and see you somewhere along the way, no doubt A C&W post will follow soon
