Folk Hero

On the 26.5.11 I saw an exhibition of in my opinion the greatest artist since Michael Angelo. At Bolton Museum are some of the works of the world reknowned "Forger" Shaun Greenhalgh.
Youjust have to go and see it to appreciate the talent of this man, who served a jail sentance for fooling the elite of the art world.
I can guess the contributors to this site who will condemn him, but without seeing what is only a small example of the mans talents, just hold your fire.

Re: Folk Hero

I'm suprised Bolton museum are actually showing off his work. Would have thought they'd be too embarrassed!! Maybe they're trying to claw back some money...

Re: Folk Hero

Do you have a time machine Alan ? We aren't in May yet.

Re: Folk Hero

Sorry Karin I got my scarf trapped in the door. Seriously though I am struggling to know what day it is with all these Bank and Public holidays. I must have pushed the lever too hard and gone into May.

Re: Folk Hero

I was at the unveiling of "his" eygption bust 7 years ago at Bolton - though obviously everyone thought it was real !

If he hadn't been a forger - he would have been an incredible artist in his own right - its actually a shame he didn't do his own original work - that would be a show i would go and see!

Re: Folk Hero

There were the works of other forgers there, they were good in their own field. What was amazing is the diversity of Shaun Greenhalgh.
