South Africa, relegated into the depths of the Davis Cup competition in recent years, successfully started a comeback in the Europe/Africa Zone Group III segment by overwhelming Mauritius 3-0 in Tunisia on Wednesday.
Rik de Voest and Fritz Wolmerans won their singles games against Jean-Marcel Bourgault du Coudray and Karim Patel 6-2 6-3 and 6-4 6-4 respectively and De Voest and Jeff Coetzee gained a resounding 6-1 6-0 victory over Patel and Bruno Goroyam in the doubles.
Eight countries are competing in the event in Tunisia, with the two top teams promoted to Europe/Africa Group II in 2008.
