As aserving member of the Armed Forces, it always makes me laugh when I see armchair Gernerals having a pop at the Government/Armed Forces! Tell me have you ever been to Iraq? Bosnia or maybe Kosovo?
I think if you were to travel to such places you would see all the good work the Forces do in these coutries! But I would never expect someone who has never been to these places to understand this! I agree that in many ways that the British people were misled in why we went into Iraq, however since being there several times and indeed there for the war, I have seen first hand what the Iraqi regieme done to it's own people! For example would you agree that it would be right to gas the Welsh? Or prehaps if males were taken from their home before being tortured and then killed! We all know this happened in Iraq, as I for one even found photos taken by the the very people who comitted these acts!
As an after tought, let me tell you that when woman and children of all ages come to you after removing the regieme from their town/village, kissing you on the cheeks, throwing flowers and shouting thankyou, it will put a lump in the throat of the toughest of us!!!!!! |
